Noel Johnson
About Me

Noel Johnson, Calgary born (now Toronto based) alt/folk/soul rocker, never grew up in a musical family nor was he nurtured into becoming an entertainer. It wasn't until one summer afternoon when he came across an old Fender acoustic sitting in the back alley that he decided to pick up an instrument. Being sixteen and stubbornly refusing to get a summer job he decided to learn how to play. By the end of the summer, Noel had written half a dozen not so good songs but he stuck with it because of his passion to write powerful and moving music one day.
Noel Johnson has had a quite a career so far. After releasing his first EP “A Familiar Change” in February 2009 he quickly recorded his first full length album “Spirit of the Day” in Nashville with grant money he received from Rawlco Radio. Noel teamed up with fellow Calgary musician Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and producer Josh Gwillam on this project. “Spirit of the Day” was released in November 2009 to a crowd of nearly four hundred people.

Since then he has performed at the Epcor Centre of the Performing Art’s three times, was included on a compilation disc that sold forty thousand copies nationwide, performed at numerous festivals including Canadian Music Week in Toronto and opened for 2011 Juno nominee Hannah Georgas. Not only has Noel been getting a lot of buzz, he has also grown as a musician. Each song he writes has to be better than the last otherwise it gets tossed. This has lead him to create hauntingly beautiful melodies, engaging lyrics and a song writing quality that has made him a force to be reckoned with in the Alberta music scene

His love of song writing is also complimented by his passion for performing. With his high energy and engaging live show, he will surely leave everyone with a tune in their head and a smile on their face.
